Frequently asked questions

How do I know if solar is right for my business?

We begin by assessing your site’s energy profile, operating requirements and electricity consumption before recommending a solution.

Can I finance a solar installation?

Yes. Depending on your requirements, your system can be purchased outright, financed through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) or acquired through a lease agreement.

What types of solar installations do you offer?

We design and install rooftop, ground-mounted and carport solar systems for commercial and industrial applications.

Will solar reduce my electricity costs?

A properly designed system can significantly reduce your reliance on grid electricity and help lower long-term energy costs.

What is a power purchase agreement?

A power purchase agreement lets Nesa fund, build and operate the energy system. Your business buys the electricity without the upfront capital cost, while still locking in a long-term energy position.

What is electricity wheeling?

Wheeling moves renewable energy from where it is generated to where your business uses power. It is useful when roof space, land or on-site generation cannot cover the load on its own.

When does battery storage make sense?

Storage is worth assessing when you need more control over when you draw from the grid, want backup for critical loads, or want to get more value from an existing or planned solar system.

Do you maintain systems after installation?

Yes. Operations and maintenance protects performance over the life of the asset. That includes monitoring, servicing and keeping the system aligned with how the site actually uses energy.

Can Nesa help with carbon credits?

Where a project qualifies, we can help businesses get more value from a renewable energy investment through carbon-credit programmes, alongside the energy cost and risk benefits.

Which industries do you work with?

We work with commercial and industrial energy users across South Africa, including agriculture and agri-processing, commercial property, and manufacturing and industrial sites.

Do you work across South Africa?

Yes. The head office is in Illovo, Sandton, with offices in Somerset West and KwaZulu-Natal, so the team can support commercial and industrial sites across the country.

What happens after I request a quote?

Share your name, contact details and what you want assessed. The team reviews the site and operating requirements, then comes back with engineered options — solar, storage, a PPA or a broader strategy — that fit the business.
