  • The challenge

Every successful project begins with a clear understanding of the client’s operational environment, energy requirements, and long-term business objectives.

Africrest is addressing Johannesburg’s housing shortage. Government supported construction of The Zuri with R500 million in funding. Solar was installed so City Power tariff savings could help lower the cost of living for lower-income tenants.

The building is eight storeys with roofs 29 metres up in the city centre, which made lifting plant and materials significantly harder. Space for a storage container on site was also limited, and theft of building materials was a live risk.

  • Our solution

Working closely with the client, our team designed a solution that balanced engineering excellence, financial viability, and long-term operational performance.

Nesa Power delivered a rooftop solar installation as a cash sale. A Geda lift was driven into the centre of the building to take equipment to the eighth floor, with top-floor storage rooms used to secure stock.

Materials were ordered, delivered and installed in one coordinated push. Close teamwork between Tyris, HB Realty, Nesa Power and the building contractors kept both the construction programme and the solar install moving.
