The challenge
Every successful project begins with a clear understanding of the client’s operational environment, energy requirements, and long-term business objectives.
What began as a modest daytime solar saving exercise grew as the relationship with Sauceland developed. Load analysis showed a clear opportunity to cut daytime grid use, and a third stakeholder then asked for backup covering only the 5-10 minutes between grid loss and the generator starting.
The team also had to resolve structural issues and roof leaks that were difficult to locate – problems that would have created headaches later if ignored.

Our solution
Working closely with the client, our team designed a solution that balanced engineering excellence, financial viability, and long-term operational performance.
Nesa Power delivered double the originally proposed capacity: 133 kWp PV with 220 kW inverter capacity and 240 kWh of battery, as a cash purchase. Structural engineers were brought in to solve the roofing issues properly.
Inverter sizing and whether a gateway was required for instantaneous backup were the decisions that had to be right. The chosen inverter size was correct, and a 0 ms changeover gateway was not required for this site.
It was the first Nesa project with a payback under five years including battery. Ten-year IRR is 38%, with R414,276 year-one solar savings – plus the avoided cost of losing a batch of sauce in an outage.
